RE: SEARCH AREA
accompanied by a map, which is also a facsimile, were re-
ceived at 6:05 PM, 12/4/71, from Minneapolis.
The map shows the course of the aircraft from
Slightly north of the Kelso-Longview area to just south
of Battle Ground and sets out_the most likely area for the
parachute drop according to latest b6
calculations as an area described by parallel lines C, DE & PF. * b7C
Generally speaking this would be an area between Pidgeon Springs
and an area just north and east of Woodland.
The above information was furnished on 12/6/71
by ASAC BIBLER to SA MANNING at which time SA MANNING
advised that he is sure that the area now described has
already been searched by helicopter and fixed wing aircraft and
that much of it has been covered on the ground as well.
It is noted that on 12/2/71,[_,___ advised b6
that after re-examining the flight recorder, he would suggest bic
that the search area could be extended to the north an
additional three miles, and to as south as the Columbia
River. That information was furnished to SA MANNING and
a included the area now described in the map prepared
by
SA MANNING requested that to be sure that the
area had been searched, that accopy of the map be forwarded
to him for examination.
