( SUBJECT: 9 APPREHUNSI CS GF ALIEN PNTTES You may be interested in the following information: Excluding German seamen, there-have been 6,085 German aliens apprehended ? . : Of this nunber <,117 were originally erdered interned by the Attorney General. As cf April 4, 1944, only 1,648 of 2,117 are still interned. Of those wio are no loner interncd; 43 have been relessed outright; 13 have been releused and inducted into the arned forces; 46 have been repatriated; 6 have died and 361 are presently on parole. i In additicn to the above 1,648 alicri enemies, the Attorney General hs ordered the internment of 89 who had been orevicusly released by the U. S. Attorneys Without a hearin; before the Alien Eneny Hearins 1 Boards By or who had been previously ordered released or paroled by the Attorney Ceneral. . While the total of 1,737 German enemy aliens now interned represent 28.54% of those apprehended by the Bureau, they represent but .55% of the Gernan ‘alien enemies in the United States,
