The following references in the file captioned "Demonstrations Protesting US Intervention in Vietnam" contain information pertasning to the activities of Coretta King during the period January, 1968- May, 1970 in Georgia and WDC. King was a sponsor and participated in a march of the Jeannette Rankin Brigade, a national coalition of women's anti-war groups, on 1/15/68, held in WDC, protesting the war in Vietnam. On 10/15/69, King spoke by phone from Atlanta, Ga. to- a anti- war demonstration, sponsored by the Vietnam Moratorium Committee ~ held in Baltimore, Md, She called for immediate withdrawdl of American troops from Vietnam. King was scheduled to make an appearance at a rally for peace and war repression to be held in Memphis, Tenn. on 5/3/70. Ons of the endorsers of this rally was the SCLC. Information indicated that Jeannette Rankin was the first woman to serve in Congress.
