CONE DPBER?TIAL CORETTA SCOTT KING RACIAL MATTER INSTITUTE OF THE BLACK WORLD RACIAL MATTER anodes iat Declassify on: Coretta King expressed dissatisfaction with the number of employees maintained by the MLKMC, particularly in the Martin Luther King, Jr. Library Documentation Project, a part of the MLEMC, As a consequence, the services of approximately twenty or thirty employees were terminatedl, Sources understood that the employees whose services were términated would, on August 3, 1970, picket the residence of Coretta I King, 234 Sunset Avenue, N. W, Atlanta, in protest. (By - 1) As of August 1, 1970, the terminated employeea were of the opinion that Coretta King was essentially concerned thet financial resources of the Library Documentation Project did not justify the nunber of individuals employed and that such a continuation, if not rectified, might have a bearing upon the efficiency of the MLKMC ih ~ the eyes of future donors (identity not known) of financial aid to the MANO * NE) On August 3, 1970, Captain Jack McIntyre, External Security Tit, Atlanta Police Department, Atlanta, advised no picketing activity occurred at the Coretta King residence that date. The Atlanta Journal, daily Atlanta newspaper, on Page 2A of its Blue Streak edition of August 4, 1970, published an article captioned, "King Memorial in Need, Widow Informs Protesters", bylined Ron Taylor. This article in part revealed that on August 4, 1970, ~~ 277] eReAyCoretta King held a press conference at which time she stated, "Some Sep 9 4970 alterations" had been made in personnel of the MLKMC because of lack of funds.
