Its major _ effort centered upon Merton Sopell,! the Rosenbergst co-defendant. The National Committee to Secure Justice In the Rosenberg Case - a communist front which had been conducting the campaign: in the United States - was reconstituted as the National Rosenberg - Sobell Committee at a ccenference in Chicago in October, 1953, end 'then the National Comrittee to Secure Justice for Morton Sobell in the Rosenberg Caset w+." ("Guide to Subversive Organizetions and Publications," dated. December 1, 1961, issued by the House Committee on Un-American Activities, page "116.) In Septenber, 1951, the name "National Committee to Secure Justice for Morton Sobeli" appeared on literéture “issued by the Comnittee. In March, 1955, the naze "Comittee to fecure Justice for Morton Sobell" first appeared on litera- ture issued by the Cousittee. In August, 1966, the nate "Comnittee to Free Morton Sobell" first appesred on literature issucd by the Comnittce. The Addrese bese posae Directory for. the Borough of Menhattan, New Yerk City, published by the Ne. York Telephone Co:wnpany on March 20, 1967, lists the above Comnittee!s address as 50 Fifth Avenue, New Torx City. S -oaeuee eee: . 70. ee £ 42 4.48
