Jerry Coffin then burned his Selective Service
Registration card anid two classification cards. Joining
in the card burning were John Msrk Blawn (phonetic) who burned
a card, anc Dave Sinex who burned his induction notice and
yelled, "Burn baby burn" as the audience applauded.
Others wee spoke brieflv against the draft and the
war were Bot Antipin; an unknown white male who sald he was
1J-A and would not ego, Fred Moore who spent 17 months in
Allenwood Frison fer refusing induction; and Gordon Felis,
master of ceremonies, wro announced another rally at the Armed
Forces Iniuction Center, 40] Nortn Street, Pniladelphia, Pa.,
on Tnhursdzy at 7 a.m-, Octorer 19, 1967.
Imrediately fellowing the rally, small anti-draft
eertificates were turnet in to Etrel Taylor and Thompson
Bradley tog«trer with ftout 22 eroft tardis. Bradley said the
a@raft cards and the arta-drait certificates would be taken
to the Department of Justice in Washington, D. C., on
October 20, 1967. Erisiley said the petition of non-cooperation
bearing most of the names of those turning in their draft cards
would be matles te General H. M. Grocs, Box 1921, Harrisburg,
Fa., the samc day. (As will be set forth later, the draft
cards ane the anti-draft certificates were also mailed to
General Gross.)
After the rally, the turning in of their draft cards
and certificates, and the mailing of same, a group of about 100
demonstrators went to the Priledelphia Folice Department at
Bth and Face Streets, FPriladclphia, Pa., and demonstrated
from about 5:50 to 6:55 p.m. protesting the arrest of the two
demonstrators. At this time most of the demonstrators departed;
however, according to news sources, several stayed around until
about 10:15 p.m.
The above information was furnished to Assistant
U.S. Attorney Fotert St. Leger Goggin of the Eastern District
of Penhsylvania, Friladelphia, Pa., who advised that he would
consider prosecution against all whe burned draft cards, as
well as those wno turned in their draft cards for referral we
