carer 14 NY 100-18676 | | CONT yeyareas |S CLAUDIA JONES authored a pamphlet entitled, "Lift Every Voice for Victory," published b) the New Age Publishers, June, 1942. At the end of the article, CLAUDIA JONES is Geseribed as the author of the pamplhet, a youns Negro woman leader of the Youns; Communist Leasue, and ecitor of the popular anti-fascist youth magazine the weekly "Review." The pamphlet besins with a cescription of the JCE LOUIS - MAX SCHMELING heavy welsht championship fight on June 22, 1933. Concerning thls fizht, the author states: "It symbolized the fight and hatred of people everywhere azainst fascism." Under the caption of "What Are You Fighting For, Joe?" she states, “The stakes in tnis ficht overshadow oy far the Louls-Schnelinz bout of '33. For the stakes are the freedom, prosress and advancement of 4211 numanity. We fight an enemy who is out to conquer the entire world, to cestroy the freedom and independence of all nations and pecples, to enslave and, as stated in Mein Kampf, to wipe out such peoples as the Nezroes and Jews." Later she writes, "Yes, there are ‘things wrongs with America.’ The existence of poll-tax laws, lynchings, discriminatory practices, are shameful blots on our Gemocracy. But the opportunity te risht to abolish these things and to win victories by so mins is a part of our democracy today.” Toe author writes, "How ridiculous to call tnis a ‘white man's war,' and how dangerous! This is our war. Joe's war. Your war and mine. It is a people'ts yar to preserve tne integrity and incependence of our nation," She goes on to state, "Joe is the answer to our enemies, within and without who claim that Negro Americans do not nave an all out stake in this war and are not out to win it.” es RATAN
