(WDC), was afforded transportation trom € the old Executive Office Building (EOB) to the Washington Field Office (WFO) of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) where she was interviewed in‘ connection with certain subpoenaed White House tape recordings, which were missing and/or which had been __ obliterated, documents and related matters. Miss was informed of the identities of the interviewing SAs and the faet that the investigation was being conducted at the request of the Special Prosecutor’ s Office. Miss WE tern toned the following information: She is presently employed as to PATRICK J. BUCHANAN, Special Assistant to the President, and. has held this position since September 15, 1971. Her office is located in Room QR fos, She performs the general duties funetions. Her primary work consists o h\ for Mr. BUCHANAN. She advise “used to use the dictabelt but has not done so for over & year end a half. oo BUCHANAN prepares briefings for press conferences, ideas for _ speeches, suggestions for the Administration's view point on ule legislation being considered in Congress, et cetera, which she types in final forn. - \U She first learned of the existence of the recording equipment in the White House and the EOB when ALEXANDER BUTTERFIELD - revealed such information when testifying before the Senate Watergate Committee during the Summer of 1973. She said she had a feeling such equipment was being used and was not sur-—- prised to hear about it. She had no genuine basis for her belief but merely assumed telephone calis were monitored and/or recorded. She denied discussing any matters relating to this investigation with any of her associates in the White House. or EOB and claimed her primary source of information about VWater- gate was the local newspapers. She advised in December, 1273: for two weeks prior to the Christmas.
