as his lawyer, Irving Kanarek,
told Superior Court Judge Ray:

Manson has termed Kana-
rek’s defense of him on the}
murder charges as “a meaning-
less false face.”
Jurors were excluded from
the courtroom while the judge
brought Manson gut to tell him
once more he had the right to
testify in his own defense.
“T haven’t seen any rights,”
Manson said sharply. “The only
right I have is to sit down and
keep. quiet. I think the record
will reveal that.”
Then the small ex-convict
turned to the few spectators in
the. courtroom and told them,
“It's all coming down. You'll be
in my world soon, and you'll get
the.same sort of justice I have
received. I have had 24 years of
your punishment, and now the
court won't face me.” :
