For several years previous to July 1941, Subject organization
together with several other Meritime unions were affiliated together
in a narent body called the Maritime Federation of the Pacifie. This

With the trend away from the American Federation of Labor into the CIO
on the part of the Maritime unions and the desertion of the Maritime
Federation of ths Pacific by the more conserv-tive AFL unions, the Mari-
tins Feagration changed from an entirely AFL body to aimost entirely
e CIO bedy. On the date of ite dBsolution in July 1941, it consisted
of all CIO unions except three, one of these was independent and two
of the others were whet were generally known as extremely radical AF of L
: unions.
The Maritime Federetion of the Pacific published a weekly
newspeper called the "Voice of the Fedcretion™". This paper carried news
articles regerding each of the unions affilieted in the Meritine Federation
of the Pacific, devoting in sach issue almost an entire pege to subscct
organization. It will be noted in other sections of this report that
severel items of informtion contained therein were obteined from issues
of the "Voice of the Federrtion®. The executive positions in the Mrritime
Federetion of tha Preifie wre lirgely held by members of the Comaunist
