Finnish Relief Funt, Inc. a
420 Lexington Avenue D49 BG
New York City ere ree a .
Gentlemen:+
The Finnish Government, through your organization,
hes cffered me a medal because I helped to raise money for
the relief of the Finnish people in 1939--1940.
There are few things that IJ would rather have than
a medal from those brave, simple fcolk. It mokes me sad that
I must refuse this cffer mede in their name, but in reality
made by a Government which is now the vassal of Nezil Germany.
For IJ cannot help being convinced that it 1s one mere case in
which the Government of a small country is being used by the
Nazis in an attempt to make people of good will and humanity
aprear to endors: the actions of the Nazi regime. My creed
hns alwsys been thet expressed by muy Prime Minister, Winston
Churchill when he said, "Any man or state that fights against
Naziism will have cur aid. Any man or state that marches
with Hitler is our foe."
Very truly yours
