Dear Sir:
On May 24, 1941, MARVIN EXRUTMERFORD of Abilene, Texas,
furnished this Office with information hereinafter set forth,
RUTHERFORD is a chemical engineer, an ex-service man of
Company 348 of San Antonio, Texas. It should be stgted, in a
preliminary way, that ORD claims patents o

patent lawyers, Legal ding, Washington, D. ©. Other patents
include a front springs support for an automobile (1923), a noo-
corrosive battery terminal (1925), a radiator shield and fender
brace (1924), a (disco-hydraulic) brake (1936), a commercial plow
(1934). RUTHERFORD also claims the invention of, although not the
patent for, the front end drive utilized by the now defunct Cord
Automobile Company of England, the gear driven airplane propeller,
and the bullet-proof or non-inflammable airplane gasoline tank..
Some of the patented items have gone into actual production.
RUTHERFORD alleges thet oniApril 22, 2933»_he Gepo sited a3
in registered mail, a copy of the registration receipt b in
his possession, the original plans for an\aviation susoline Kank
similar to the ones in use in the present conflict since the
latter part of 1940. Thea sealing and ling of the envelope
were witnessed by PEARCE @POGERS and JACK BLAKE of Abilene, Texas.
No return receipt was requested. The enyelope was addressed
FColonel CHARLES A.{/LINDBERGH, c/o H ARNOLD, Commander-in-
Chief of the Air Corps, Washington, D. C™. At that time LINDBERG
Was chairman of the[New Device Committee. RUTHERFORD bas in his
poasession photostats of the plans sent at that time. There were \\
just two photostatic copies of the plane made, and RUTHERFORD has
both of them. They were photostated by the Bluse
