weA MEXICAN NATIONALS ARE BREAKING THE DELANO STRIKE OF THE UNITED
FARM WORKERS ORGANIZING COMMITTES, AFL-CIO he
After being on strike since September 1965 and after winning three
major contracts, the Delano farm workers must contend with thousands
ef illegal strike breakers. The powerful California growers, are
attempting to break the strike with Mexican Nationals. Right now
they are recruiting "green card holders," aliens with work permits,
in Calexice, California. Once across the border, they will be sent
to Delano's grape fields.
On July 10, 1967 a Justice Department regulation (Number
8CFR211.1 to Public Law 414, the Naturalization and Immigration
Act of 1952) prohibited the &se of grecn card holders when
the Secretary of Labor declared a labor dispute exists.
The California Labor Department, an agent of the U.S. Labor
Department, has certified that bona fide labor disputes
exist in Delano.
This attcapt by growers to break a unicn must be stopped. Won't
you please help by telegraning or writing Secretary of Labor Wirtz
c/o U.S. Department of Labor, Washington, D. C. or Attorney General
Ramsey Clark c/o U.S. Department of Justice, tiashington, D. C. or
contact your Congressmen. This ecculd mean the life or death of the
Delano fHoavement. We need your help to secure justice for the
workers in the fields. Please heip us before it is too late.
