Rally was held in vacant lot, Highway 44 and Baldwin Boulevard, Corpus Christi and Marchers were welcomed by City Councilmen, Marchers were addressed briefly by ROY EVANS, Secretary-Treasurer of ‘Texas AFL-CIO, Reverend JAMES NAVORRO, Father ANTONIO GONZALES, Dr. HECTOR GARCIA of Corpus Christi and MOSES LEROY of Houston, an official of the NAACP. Marchers were joined by an estimated 1,000 sympathizers and marched to Corpus Christi Cathedral where a special Mass was offered by Most Reverend THOMAS J. DRURY, Bishop of Corpus Christi Diocese, Marchers will remain at El Tejano Motel, Corpus Christi until Tuesday, 8/2/66 when march will continue en route to Austin, Texas via Gregory, Texas.
