SC 44-542
On June 28, 1973, 28 individuals associated
with the Teamsters Union were arrested by the Kern County
Sheriff's Office and booked into the Kern County Jail,
Bakersfield, California.
JOSEPH JOHNSON, Chief Investigator, Kern
County District Attorney's Office, Bakersfield, advised
on August 6, 1973, that due to the lack of cooperation
in general by the UFWU, 17 of these individuals arrested
had to be released without charge. At the present time,
11 Teamster members are still under charge, and cases
involving six have been presented to a county grand jury;
however, results of the grand jury's decision, if any, have
not been made public. It is expected that five of the 11
will not be presented to a grand jury in the future and
that five of the six cases presented will probably be dis-
missed resulting in only one indictment.
