On June 20, 1969, a source who has furnished reliable
information in the past, advised that from 6:00 p.m., to
9:00 p.m., June 20, 1969, and from 10:00 a.m., to 3:00 p.g.,
June 21, 1969, the United Farm Workers Organizing Committee
(UFWOC) at Pittsburgh, planned to picket five Kroger
Supermarkets in the Pittsburgh area. This source further
advised that the demonstrations were being held to induce
the Kroger Company to cooperate in the grape boycott at
Pittsburgh, in connection with attempts being made by the
UFWOC to gain union recognition for grape pickers. The
source said that no acts of violance or civil disobedience
bad been planned.
On June 21, 1969, the same source advised that from
6:00 p.a., to 9:00 p.m., June 20, 1969, and from 10:00 a.n.,
to 3:00 p.m., June 21, 1969, the above mentioned picket
demonstrations were held at five Kroger Supermarkets in the
Pittsburgh area. According to the source, demonstrators
carried signs which requested that customers refrain from
buying California grapes and also passed out literature to
customers. .
