Student Strike for Peace ccnference held in Chicago, Tllinois, —
on December 23-29, 1666, which resulted in a call for massive :
antiwar demonstrations in Kew York City and San Francisco, —
Celifornia, on April 15,°1657. The National Student Strike
for Peace was origineily c2lled by the Communist Party (CP).
Divisions srose between elements of the CP and the Socialist
Workere Party (Swe), culminating in a take-over by the
SVP element in the Summer of 1958 and the CP element with-
crawing., Source. further sdvisec the Student Kobilization
Committee locally and nationally is controlled by the SWP
and its youth arm, Young Socialist Alliance (YSA), as
evidenced by their participation in Student Mobilization :
Committee functions and their leadership role played in the
tudent Mobilization Cormittee. , .
The SWP has been Gesisnated pursuant

A report by the Cernittee On Un-American Activities,
Hcuse of Representatives, Nirnetieth Corgress, First Session,
ec2ted Merch 32, 1657, entitied "Communist Orizin and Manipulation
of Vietnam Week (April 8-15, 1057)" stated that the Student
Mobilization Committee and the April 15, 19657, antiwar
cenionstrations were Communist dominated and inspired,
