UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE FEDERAL BUREAU OF INVESTIGATION Sacramento, California August 12, 1969 PLANNED DEMONSTRATION BY SYMPATHIZERS OF UNITED FARM WORKERS ORGANIZING COMMITTEE AT MATHER AIR FORCE BASE, SACRAMENTO, CALIFURNIA, AUGUST 14, 1969 On August 11, 1969, Special Agent Detachment Commander, Office of Special Investigations (O51), Mather Air Force Base, advised that he has received information that a group of pickets anticipate holding an oraerly nonviolent protest at the Gate to Mather Air Force Base on August 14, 1969. The leader of this aemonstration is one care arsed who is allegedly a student at the University of Cal- a at Berkeley. He refers to himself as the part time yeott co-ordinator for the United Farm Workers Organizing Committee in Sacramento. He allegealy received $5 a week tor these duties. ™m co ~— The demonstration is to protest the Department of Defense buying table grapes and shipping them to Vietnam. Mather Air Force Base was chosen for this protest due to the fact that "it was handy". Gam :: attempting to attract television and other press coverage for the aemonstration. The demonstration is to be off the Base, outsice the Gate and off the roadway so that there will be no traffic ais- ruption ana no possibility of any violation of statutes.
