‘on September 13, 1940, FRNK (GAROFALO | was issucd New York City pistol permit #23745, and gave his cana nm me LOE AF and wom “ home address as 339 East 68th Street, New York City, rather than 339 East 58th Street, the actucl residence. GAROFALO gave his occupation as a partner in the firm of M & @ Coat Company, 178 McKibbins Street, Brooklim, New York. GAROFALO purchased a .32 caliber Smith & Wesson, Scrial 445564, on Septcmber 20, 1940, from FRANK LAVA, 6 Centre Street, New York City. GAROPALO stated that he needed the revolver for protection in carrying large sums of money for payrolis. GAROFALO indicated NICHOLAS MARRONE, 178 McKibbins Street, Brooklyn, as his partner, and nomed as character references FRANK GLIARANITA, 94 Wilson ivenue, Brooklyn; ANTHONY RUSSC, R & R Cloak Company, 47 Thames Street, Brooklyn, and JOHN CREMENDO, 22 Boerum Street, Brooklyn, as a reference on a subsequent application. GAROFALO renewed the license in 1941, 1942, and 1943. On April 19, 1943, the license was cancelled by a letter from Detective GEORGE DUNPHY, Shicid 1503, and Assistant District Attorney GRUMET, as GAROFALO was no longer in business. as no criminal reco x Vy to various law enforcement agencies in New York City, with tne exception of the New York District Attorney's Office, who, in investigation of the CARLCS TRESCA murder, considered TRESCA's reported insult of GAROFALO, described eisewhere in this report, as one of the most logical motives for TRESCA's death.
