pending a civil case in US District Court, Eastern District
of New York, Brooklyn, New York, of US vs CARLO GAMBINO, ET
AL, to recover $1, 365,879.66, representing unpaid taxes on
alcohol manufactured illegally. The case involved the Indus-
trial Produc t Caristadt, New Jersey, which was
operated BT esresccemo @ cracking plant of denatured
alcohol during 1931-1933. The gicohol was allegedly stored
in Brooklyn warehouses. In connection with this operation,
the Buildings Hoisting and Equipment Company Offices at 225
Lafayette Street, New York City, appeared as a business name
used by CARLO and PAUL GAMBINO during peridd of about 1932-
1933, however, the offices were rented by the firm in names
other than GAMBINO (not stated). According to the file, other
