Mr. OSTHCLTHOFF stated he had talked with Superviso he Bureau inquir pre as to whether the — ‘ Bureau desired that we go te and suggeat he might desire to place the witnesses hearing today under cath. Mr. OSTHOLTHOFF stated MBreplied that we should ¥OT co to Mr. OSTHOLTHOFP stated thet the fact that VIRGINIA BILL, nistress of SIEGEL, is along on thie trip is rather unusual; he stated both SIEGEL and VIRGINIA HILL, have been talking about going east sometime in the near future, probably to Chicago or New York City. Mrs. OSTHOLTHOFF said that while he doubted SIEGEL would leave this area for the time being, in view of the Flamingo Hotel situation, it might well be that VIRGINIA HILL would go. In this regard he stated that, of course, if SIEGEL left, we should place hin on @ plane and wire ahead to the proper offices to discreetly cover hia contacts, and further if VIRGINIA HILL leaves, we should also place her on a plane and wire ahead to the appropriate offices eo that a discrect physical - surveillance can be placed on her to determine her activities and contacts, in view of the fact they might pertinent to ‘this matter.
