Federal Bureau of Investigation 301 Continental Bank Building - Salt Lake City, 1, Utah LA} ' _ February 5, 1947 Director, FBI Sp bpeee i OORT. ’ [og BENJAMIN "SLUGS" SIEGEL, MISCELLANEOUS- INFORMATION CONCERNING: CRIME SURVEY TSCHNICAL SURVEILLANCES Dear Sir: ee Reference is made to your letter dated January 13, 1947, in the ! 7 above-captioned matter calling my attention to the fact that in my teletype of December 24, 1946, I advised that technical surveillanoes were inatalled on LD Lines 1, 2, 3, and 4, Las Vegas Turf Club, telephone 7070, located on the second floor of the Las Vegas Club, 23 East Fremont Street at 2:00 PM on that date and that the same symbol numbers were utilized for those techni- eal surveillances that were formerly used on similar installations in July, 1946, at which tines the telephone numbers were listed as Las Vegas 2460, for LD Line 1; Las Veras 2283 for LD Line 2; and Las Vegas 2284 for LD Line TTR Se ho! On December 24, 1946, technical surveillances were installed on a i the same four LD Lines at the Las Vegas Turf Club that were previously covered “4 by technical surveillances in July, 1946. Hence, the same symbol numbers were 7 used in December, 1946. In aidition to the four LD Lines, the Las Veras Turf Club, located upstairs over the Las Vegas Club, has three local lines. The local lines are numbered 2283 (which is the listed telephone number of the Las Vegas Turf Club), 2284, and 2460. The latter two numbers are unlisted. At no time were technical survoillances installed by this office on any of the three _ 4 local lines numbered 2283, 2284, and 2460. nf _ . ° The telephone number 2442, listed for the Las Vegas Club in the y * < Las Vegas, Nevada telephone directory, is located downstairs in the Las Veeas Club proper (the gambling casino) and has no connection with the upstairs Las Vegas Turf Club, which is a suite of rooms located on the second floor: ee whose business is to handle bets on horse races, and other sportins events, | which bets are made by telephone and are received from_all over the United States.
