Laca —_ SUBJECT: BENJAMIN "BUGS" SIEGEL SET rsa fob ie Rooen MISCELLANEOUS ~ INFORMATION CONCERNING we oo CRIME SURVEY irs aro” ir Pennington The Los Angeles Division by teletype has advised that Radio foie Room aa Commentator Drew Pearson in his broadcast on the evening of September 29, vies peu 1946 reported that work on the Flamingo Hotel was to be stopped on order of Jotm-D.— Small. However, according to the Los Angeles Division, work on this project was continuing on the morning of September 30, 1946. b?D On October 1, 1946 the Los Angeles Division advised that construction work on the Flamingo Hotel ‘was continuing on that date. It was further stated that telegrams were reportedly sent from Las Vegas by a veterans organization and labor union to John Small requesting that he withdraw the stop order and allow the work on the hotel to continue. The Los Angeles Division is checking to determine whether these telegrams were actually sent and, if so, the nature of their contents. Siegel, in a conversation with of his associates, indicated that he was having another "headache" and when! inquired if he was ; referring to the "thing on the air last night" believed to be the radio broadcast pe of Drew Pearson, Siegel replied in the affirmative, stating that he did not know who was giving “us the headaches".
