- Urbain Guerrlila Warfare, School for Sclecting the Guerrilla
Revolution is a social phenomenon that depends on men. arms, and
resources. Arms and resources exist in the country and can be taken
| and used, but ta do this it is necessary to count on men. Without
them, the arms and the resources have no use and no value. For
- their part, the men must have two basic and indispensable obligatory
: qualities:
a} they must have a politico-revolutianary motivation;
b) they must have the necessary technical-revolutionary preparation.
Men with a pol:tico-revolutionary motivation are found- among the '
vast and clearheaded contingents of enemics of the military dicta- ‘
torship and of the domination of US imperialism.
Almost daily such men gravitate to urban guerrilla warfare, and
it is far this reason that the reaction no longer announces that it has
Le thwarted the revolut-onaries and goes through the unpleasantness of .
seeing them rise up again out of their cwn ashes.
The men who are best trained. most experienced, and dedicated to
urban querrilla warfare and at the same time to rural querrilla warfare,
constitute the backbone of the revolutionary war and, therefore. of
the Brazilian revolution. From this backbone will come the marrow of
the revolutionary army of national liberation, rising out of guerrilla
warfare,

hidden tn the organizational structure, not the empty conferees, the
clichéd writers of resoluticns that remain an paper, but rather the
men who fight. The men who from the very first have been determined
and ready for anything. who personally participate in revolutionary
acrions, who do not waver or deceive.
This is the nucleus indoctrinated and disciplined with a long-range
strategic and tactical vision consistent with the application of Marxist

' Ax of nof, the men and women chosen for urban querrilla warfare
are workers: peasants whom the city has attracted as a market for
