HAZEL MAE MACK, an officer of the North Carolina Chapter of the Black Panther Party, acted as emcee for this affair and introduced the following speakers: 1. LARRY LITTLE, head of the North Carolina Chapter of the BPP, LITTLE talked about the oppression of black people and called for the unity of all blacks. He spoke of the death of JOSEPH IRWIN WADDELL, a BPP member who recently died in North Carolina Central Prison, Ralaicach North Carolina TLITTT Ee #enldad tha seeamhi al group shinee eta ee eae oe ee | ahh be Nhat Sa le elk Wehbe Cha ep EY Ek Ar that the BPP was now a political organization and that he intends to run for an unidentified public office in the future. . . a ~ 2. Reverend MOSES SHALL, pastor of a local Baptist Church and a candidate for Winston-Salem City-County School Board. Reverend SMALL compared the BPP's efforts in feeding the poor to that of Jesus feeding the multitudes. He talked about the new image of the BPP and how the BPP was now a political organizatfon. 3. Mrs. LEE FAYE/MACK, a member of the North Carolina Chapter of the Black Panther Party. Mrs. MACK informed the assembled group that the BPP was no longer a militant group and had great plans to increase their political activity, including BPP members running for various political offices, | 4G. Mrs. RHUDINE/ COVINGTON, President of the Welfare Rights Organization in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Mrs. COVINGTON talked about the welfare problems of poor blacks and the inequities in the welfare system.
