C., group continues to follow HUEY P. NEWTON. Ve PART IT hae e, The following is a summary of the BPP activities in the Charlotte Division: The major activities of the BPP group at Winston-Salem N. C., and their affiliated group at High Point, N. C., appear to be their concern of various charges against the BPP leadershi whose cases have not gone to trial. In addition, both groups have been working diligently in an effort to raise bond money ie x. eae for the “High Point Four", and to use their forthcoming trial as a rallying point to gain public support. BPP members were successful in raising bond money for one of the “High Point Four however, they have been unsuccessful in raising sufficient money to bond out any of the other three who are still awaiting trial. Me BPP members at Winston-Salem have continued their work in fixing up their new headquarters which has been painted a bright blue. A large hand-painted sign has been erected in the front yard identifying this residence as the headquarters of the North Carolina Chapter of the BPP. There has been no confrontation between the BPP and police and the group appears to be actively promoting their newly adopted “community image", and have been sprucing-up their personal dress as well as the appearance of their headquarters.
