One area mentioned was a dead-end street off Laurel Street in Greensboro. After drawing a crowd of police cars, snipers would then shoot the police officers. It is noted that during the disturbance at A and T State University during March, 1969, five police officers were injured in the area of Laurel Street by some snipers. On February 8, 1969, a white employee of the Thrifty Curb Market, East Market Street, Greensboro, was involved in an altercation with a Neqro male. This information was given to the Black Panthers, who had already discussed the fact that all of the white merchants in the Negro section “had to go.” The Black panther group discussed bombing the Thrifty Curb Market on the night of February 10, 1969, but subsequently called this plan off before five ofthe Panthers went to the Thrifty Curb Market in African regalia. This was to make their presence known and shake up the manager of the market.
