j FD-36 (Rev."$-22-64) ‘ . ( . - 4 FBI Date: CE 157-6171 FACTIONALISM During May, 1972, no information was received other than that the Winston-Salem, N. C., group continues to follow HUEY P. NEWTON. The following is a summary of BPP activities in the Charlotte Division: The Free Breakfast for Children Program ceased on 6/5/72. --However, MARY McDONALD, who heads the program, announced they would resume operation when school starts in the fall. LARRY LITTLE held a press conference on 6/14/72 and announced that he had attended a number of survival conferences at BPP Headquarters, Oakland, California, during the past six months and had observed the advanced programs for community aid that the BPP is developing. LITTLE stated the North Carolina chapter of the BPP will expand their community survival programs and that beginning soon the BPP chapter would undertake voter registration and conduct tests for sickle cell anemia. LITTLE did not give any specific date for this proposed activity}. JOSEPH E. WADDELL, former member of the High Point group of the BPP, died in Central Prison, Raleigh, N. C., on 6/13/72, of a heart attack. WADDELL was afforded a BPP funeral in Winston-Salem, N. C., on 6/21/72. Services were directed by LARRY LITTLE, head of the BPP chapter; and a taped eulogy hy BOBBY SEALE was played at the funeral.
