SAC, Los Angeles March 27, 1947 VETCHER stated that during his various conversations with the victim, she never expressed fear of enyone, but she did mention that Los Angeles was a tough city and that it was dangerous for a girl to be alone on the streets at night. She told him that she was afraid to be alone on the streets at night, and while they were reading a newspaper in the lobby of the Figueroa Hotel, she pointed out to him an article which featured a resume of the number of murders and rapes which had occurred in Los Angeles over a short period of time. In addition, VETCHER stated that the victim told him that she was going with a man whom she did not like very mich, but she stated that she did not want to hurt his feelings by stopping to go with him, VETCHER advised that he did not know the name of this man. It may be noted that VETCHER vigorously denied that he had ever been married to the victin. VETCHER furnished the following description of the victim's girl friend: Race White ‘ Age Approximately 21 or 22 Height 5' 2t or 5! gi Weight 120 lbs. Complexion Light Hair Brunette Byes He observed that she appeared to have trouble with her eyes end noted that they were red most of the time. She indi- cated that she wore glasses at times, , VETCHER stated that he and MOFFETT departed from los Angeles, as well as he could recall, on September 22, 1946 to return to Fort McClellan, Ala- bama, He denied that he was in Los Angeles from January 9 to January 15, 1947, and stated that the records at Fort McClellan, Alabama would positively establish his whereabouts during that period as having been at Fort McClellan, Alabama, x \ =G=
