Atlanta, Georgia 30324 My dear Mario: Thanks for the lengthy visit with you today discussing the possibilities of a better relationship between the govern-. ment of the United States and the government of Libya on both a business, a commercial and a political basis. I read with some degree of frustration and embarrassment sev~ eral weeks ago about the visit of Billy Carter to Libya. Al- though Billy is the brother of the President of the United States and, incidentally, a good friend of mine, he has no feel for international relations and has little feel for the financial economy and financial structure of business in this nation. I was, therefore, delighted to have the occasion to visit . with you on the whole subject. I have followed America's relationship with Libya only through the press. The people in Libya are obviously totally successful in their own econ- omics there and have less need for us than we have need for them. It seems to me that this nation should be aggressively. pursuing a stronger friendship with Libya. Certainly we need their oil. I think that the Jewish bloc and the heavy Jewish lobby in our national capital heavily interferes with the need for us to establish a better relationship. — ‘ It seems to me that we could advise your friends in Libya ‘and particularly the Prime Minister who is obviously the -yeal decision maker and the boss of the whole structure over there. I would enjoy greatly visiting with him one of these days.
