He left from Atlanta on the 25th of August, 1979 and stayed
about one month. Five people accompanied Randy Coleman
and himself. They were Jimmy Murry, owner of the Best Western
Motel in Americus, Georgia and his wife; Clarence Gibbons,
a CBS Cameraman working out of Atlanta and his wife; and
Norman Mallard, a Western Electric official in Atlanta,.
Georgia. In addition, his son, Buddy Carter and his wife
- also went on the trip. They flew by Sabena Airlines from
New York to Brussels to Rome and from Rome they took Libyan
Airlines to Bengasi, Libya. The other visitors stayed about
10 days, his wife stayed 2 weeks and Billy stayed about
one month. He had hoped to see Quaddafi, but was told he
was with his troops in the desert.
Carter attended the parade commemorating the 10th
anniversary of Quaddafi's rule. During his stay, he had
discussions with Shahati on 7 or 8 occasions, but always oo
in the presence of another person. There were -no discussions.

and the Attorney General's report to the Congress.
