A recent mil cover placed on the residence of EBRAI DRVCHT reflected
the wh ager received an insured packare postmarked August 3. 1944, gent by PUT
FERLAG, 124 Bast 57th Street, liew York City. This cover also reflected that
SHUT received two letters from 34 Pryor Lane, Larchmont, ie. York. The post-
marks on these letters were unknown, but one of then was received by 3X=CHT on
hugust 4 and the other is known to have been an air wail special delivery letter.
On Aupust 12 and July 28, 1944, this informant advised that a "girl

BRECHT, of course, is presently \
aerried and living with his wife and two children. Informant later ascertained
that this girl friend had moved from LOuRE's to an unknown address near Wilshire
Boulevard. He stated that he had heard that WRECHT and his friends had engaged
in politioal discussions at the LONHE residence while this girl friend ~as
located there. Informant felt that these discussions might aiso be continued
at the girl's new address. The identity of this girl friend is unknom, and
it might be noted that the mail sever nentioned above reflects that UTH JERLAT
was in NewYork as late as august 3, 1944. This would seem to eliminste her as
being the girl friend referred to.

Ae. On vay 18 and 20, the nane of BUT SKECHT was placed on both the
» Bational and local censorship watch lists for a veriod of ninety days. It
mirht be noted that BHECUT's nane had previously. been placed on the national
eensorship watch liat on Januar 19, 1944.
By letter of July 18 a sixty-day mail cover was placed or the resi-
dence of GENT BRECUT. It might be noted that previously prosecution of 3n2°CHT
for infractions of the alien enemy travel regulations was declined by the
United States -ttorney at Los angeles. Furthensore, on July 26 the United
- States attorney's office at Los -ngeles advised that a Presidential warrant
for subject's apprehension as an alien enemy would not be authorized as of
that date. It was sugrested, however, that periodic checks of subject's
activities be mde.
