Re: WAYNE BERTRAM WILLIAMS;
ATKID
Attached Atlanta teletype advises that a
motions hearing was held at the Fulton County
Superior Court on 10/20/81 concerning a defense
motion to suppress evidence obtained in the
searches of Wayne Bertram Williams' residence.
The defense counsel, Mary Welcome, questioned
Atlanta Deputy Police Chief Morris Redding, the
affiant for the state search warrants issued
on 6/3/81 and 6/22/81. Chief Redding was
specifically queried as to the reason why so
many of the victims' names were listed in the
affidavit. Chief Redding responded that it was
the determination of the investigation that
Williams was, in fact, responsible for all the
victims listed therein.
The Assistant Fulton County District Attorney
opines that in the event that Judge Clarence
Cooper rules in favor of the prosecution on
this motion, he would be able to introduce
numerous evidentiary items from the other
related homicides during Williams' trial even
though Williams has been indicted for only two
of the murders.
The Assistant Fulton County District Attorney
estimates the trial for subject Williams will
commence on 1/4/82.
