Forwarded to the FBI Laboratory under separate
cover are two lengths of brown electrical cord and two
needle-nose pliers.
Foi the information of the PBI Laboratory and
Identification Division, on 3/4/80, Angela Lanier was
last observed at school and on 3/10/80, the body of Angela
Laniexc was found in a wooded area less than one mile from
her residence. When the body was found, the hands were
bound with the brown cord, labeled #1. The medical examiner
stated that Lanier was alive for several days after her
disappearance and that she was bound with the brown cord
prior to her murder. The cord was cut in one location,
by the medical examiner, to remove it from the body,
It is also noted that the mecical examiner's office and
the Atlanta Police Department (APD) Sid not preserve the
cord for latent fingerprint examinations.
