Sacramento is not currently investigating prison gangs, i.e, Aryan Brotherhood, Black Guerrilla Family, or Mexican Mafia, on other than a reactive basis. The Sacramento investigation of La Nuestra Familia (NF) reached the prosecution stage with convictions of 21 gang members. On 2/6/84, a hearing was held before USDJ Edward Price, EDC, at which time defense attorneys for the remaining four defendants argued motions for dismissal based on outrageous government conduct before the FGJ and RICO statute violation of First Amendment Rights of association. To date, Judge Price has not ruled on the motions. Tt is not anticipated that Sacramento will conduct further active investigation of the NF due in part toa lack of enthusiasm on the part of the USA's office.
