contaminated. suspected that the cultures were contaminated
due to the fact that had extra difficulty getting the culture to

growing the culture in tryptic soy broth (TSB) and then streaking

hemolytic on SBA. Biochemical tests (API strip) performed_b
indicated that the contaminant was Bacillus pumilus.
developed a standard operating procedure (SOP) for enrichment_of
the contaminant and agreed to provide this SOP to the FBI. [sd
believes that any purified isolates of the contaminant that may
have been generated have probably been destroyed.
