It was also stated that SCEWV would accept ‘anyone who-was' opposed to the war in Vietnam on whatever basis ‘thé individual's opposition might rest and that it made no differ- “ence as to whether the person was a communist as long as he was opposed to the war. in Vietnam. It was explained that all 7 decisions on public policy had to be unanimous thus preventing “any. one faction from taking over the committee in any manner. : Tt wag explained that the function of SCEWV was to. . present a range of alternatives to the ‘present administration " Pottey in Vietnan. , In August, 1966, a source furnished a document prepared for public consumption by SCEWV which stated that SCEWV was an ‘organization of people who actively opposed the U.S. Government's “policy in Vietnam and that anyone who opposed the war in Vietnam .for whatever reasons was welcome.
