A source advised in late Novembe,1959, that the Young Socialist Alliance-Chicago (YSA-C), formerly known as Young Socialist Supporters, had its origin in a series of informal discussions held in Chicago prbr to June, 1959, among individuals who were close to the Socialist Workers Party (SWP). The YSA-C as of November, 1959, proclained itself to be a city-wide revoluticnary youth organization czsiened to build socialism in America and aimed toward youth on coilege campuses in the Chicago area and as _ being independent of all adult groupings. According to a secend source in Hay, 31964. the YSA-C, also known as the University Young Socialists, was considered the youth group of the Chicago Branch SWP and affiliated with the national organization of the YSA in New York.
