YOUNG SOCIALIST ALLIANCE-CHICAGO,
Aka, Young Socialist Supporters,
University Young Socialists
. A source advised in late Novembe,1959, that the
Young Socialist Alliance-Chicago (YSA-C), formerly known as
Young Socialist Supporters, had its origin in a series of
informal discussions held in Chicago prbr to June, 1959,
among individuals who were close to the Socialist Workers
Party (SWP).
The YSA-C as of November, 1959, proclained itself to
be a city-wide revoluticnary youth organization czsiened to
build socialism in America and aimed toward youth on coilege
campuses in the Chicago area and as _ being independent of all
adult groupings.
According to a secend source in Hay, 31964. the YSA-C,
also known as the University Young Socialists, was considered
the youth group of the Chicago Branch SWP and affiliated with
the national organization of the YSA in New York. The YSA-C
officers as of May, 1964, were current members or sympathizers
of the Chicago SwWP. -
The SWP has been designated pursuant to Executive
Order 10450.
