This last quotation was noted by Dr, Russell Kirk, in sharp criticism o
'The Family of Man' in the National Review August 15, 1959.
When we called this book to the attention of the Service Committee delegation
nereinbefor referred to at the November, 1939 meeting in New York, those
present scemed greatly surprised and gave us the impressioa that they cic not
know of the existence of the book or that it was being distributed by the Service
Committee. We pained the impression that it would be discontinued. As fate
as the spring of 1959, the book was still being distributed, as announced in the
AFSC News Letter, New York City Office, March, 1959.

the pictures in ‘The Family of ian‘ ona world-wide propuganda tour and the
book is being diligently promoted by communist publications and by UNESCO
but why should this piece of materialistic propayanda be urged upon the American
people by the Service Committee, best known of our Quaker organizations? -s
