A few Airicans have been injured in the course of petrol bomb attacks on their homes. The most extensive preperty damage was a $25,060 fire, Who is responsible for the violenee? Although ZAPU gets a great deal of the blame, they ccny all respoasibility. It is possible that these evenes stimulate one another arons more irresponsible members of the African cesrumity. There is mo evi- cence of centralized planning or pattern of methud. Some of the violence fa obvicus- ly related to a split in the African Labor movement, some directed acainst Africans whu are police reservists or members of the UFP, some without any obvious motivation. Three organizations ef unknown sire and composition have secretly distributed aflets in werhan African townships. These have called thenselwes the 7Finhabve Liberetion Airy, Zimbabwe Liberation Front and the Zimbabwe Afriean Mu Klux Klan. (Zincabve is the current Africana name for Southern Phodesia., Northern fhsdesia is fanbia, and Nyasaland is Malawi.) This Zimbabwe trio has atracked ZAPU as being too movcrate. It also promises more violeuce in the fighe to "Liberate" Zinsahwe. ‘The “trio appears to have a common seurce as yet undecided what to call itself. Government response to increased and more violent omposition has been to tighten up existing security legislation and to introduce more stringent laws.
