_ The above has written another "egg-head" article in which he makes
light of the danger of sex offenders and he indicates that he and his associates are
firmly convinced that "lurid" warnings to children concerning sex offenders "tend.
to encourage a sort of paranoid fear of all strangers and all men" without preventing
any significant number of offenses. He Says that the man who molestg a child is
j usually not a stranger but someone who knows the child. He says that sexual crimes
are far rarer than the headlines would indicate.
His article is a summary of his book which will appear in July, 1965,
and is the first of two articles to appear in this publication summarizing his book.
