SAC Price said that Assistant Director Frederick T. Wilkinson of the Bureau of Prisons had flown to the Coast from Washington, arriving yesterday and has been conferring with Warden Blackwell of Alcatraz relative to the break. The purpose of Price's call was to advise he understood that Wilkinson and Blackwell were contemplating a press conference at Alcatraz some time this morning. | At that time they would in all probability discuss the case fully with reporters. They woulc of course, leave themselves open for all sorts of picture taking of the dummies, holes A the wall, escape route, etc. Since the break was a carefully planned operation reautrlng considerable time in execution the prison certainly would not be made to look good. Blackwell has told SAC Price he does not want to do anything that would impede the FBI's investigation and has asked Price whether he (Blackwell) should hold such a conference. Lastly, the FBI will not participate in any such conference.
