The October 28, 1950, issue of "Glos ladowy", page 1, columns
2 and 3, carried an article captioned "geientigt Decides to Remain in
Foland to Fight for Feace". This article in part stated the» Dr.
Leopold Infeld, werld famoua mathematician and physicist, rasigned
from his post at the University of Tcronte, Toronto, Canads, and ec-
cepted the chair in his field at the University of Warsaw, Foland,
The article further stated that Dr. Infeld left Poland in 1936 end
after his arrival in the United States. spent three ysars working
with Albert Einstein at Princeton, New Jersey. During this time he
collaborated with Finstein on the book "Evolution of Physics", Fer
the following 12 years he was at the University of Toronto. Yhen
Infeld requested a leave of absence for the school yerr 1950-1962
to lecture in European universities, including those of Holand, 4
charge wag made thet he knew atomic bomb secrets and weuld take them
to Foland.
The article further stated thet the Folish press in the
United Stetes went to extremes to imply that Infeld ws an "Atom
Pomb Spy", linking his name with Dr. Fuchs of Great Pritain who ree
nhoreed with revealing atomic secrets to the Soviets.
