According to the committee was an outgrowth of the Conference on Peacelu fernatives to the North Atlantic Pact, held May 20 and 21, 1949, at the Cosmos Club in Washington, D. C. i This meeting, according 2; initiated by Doctor Albert Einstein and four other individuals. The meeting was attended by approximately 600 persons, and certain resolutions were passed on the peaceful settlement to the difficulties facing the world by other means than the passage of the "North Atlantic Pact Bill. “' 28 ag p2viP rg advised that the resolutions passed at the Conference on Peaceful Alternatives to the Allantic Pact in Washington, 2 C., on May 20, and 21, 1949, included the following: "This resolution and the two accompanying resoluticns on the Foreign Ministers Conference and on Organizing for Peace were adopted at a Conference on Peaceful Alternatives to the Al lantic Pact, held at the Assembly Hall of the Cosmos Club, Washingtnn, D. C., on May 20 and 21, 1949. The conference was initiated by Miss Emily Greene . Balch,. the Reverend Edwin T. Dahlberg, Doctor Albert Einstein, Thomas Mann and Bishop W. J. Walls. Some 500 additional persons gave their support to the purposes of the conference." New York report, January 24, 1950.
