Reles, while under protective custody, guarded by six policemen, plunged to his death from a fifth floor hotel room 4n a Coney Island hotel in November of 191. It was reported that Albert Anastasia entered the United States Army in 1942 and trained Army longshoremen at Indiantown Gap, Pennsylvania, for 4 period of two years; after which he was discharged as overage. It was reported in September of 1946 that Joe Adonis, Albert Anastasia, and others were {nvolved in smuggling gold into the United States. vy It was reported in 1949 that b? was believed to have assisted in engineering the shooting of notorious California hoodium, at the ‘request of one Alberto Anastasia. It was reported in Narch, 1951, that a national crime syndicate controlled rackets in all major cities and this syndicate held "kangaroo courts," which often sentenced members to death when they stepped out of line. Albert Anestasia was named 4s one of the leaders of this syndicate.
