Dear sirO Wahine gpl 7%. f fi, )
,Congratuyations!: It is a rare and real pleasure as a_tax payer
to see that my Federal dollars are going to efforts to keep the
; Congressmen honest. Your Abscam investigation should have been
> {; ‘done years ago and should be continued. If we can not create an
i honest Congress or judicial system there is no hope that_anyone
else will be honest. If it takes “entrapment""so be "
-!Carl Rowan and all the other columnists are saying.
entrapped who has not been transgressing the line.
‘Fortunately most newspaper editorals or the public have very littl
‘sympathy for this defense of "entrapment." What we should be more -
‘concerned with is if you hadn't "trapped" some long, overdue corru
‘Congressmen. There are a few honest Congressmen, but they are a
‘minority. Congress has taken way good care of itself financially.
Their salaries are very adequate and when you add their lu-lus,
_junkets, "lecture" fees, plus all the tax-hidden benefits I have
no sympathy for them. (They are the major cause of our inflation
jas well.) To perpetuate dishonest actsto the magnitude they do +
;and then take umbrage about being caught, takes guts.
Those like Rep. Theodore Weiss and John Seiberling apparently are 7
worrying more about entrapment and the Congressmen's image then
the public's welfare-typical of them. No window dressing, but some
honesty for a change would alter the image as»ect. _
Nothing gave me more delight than to see WECM =| IO
of the biggest fakes in our Congress today who hasealways had their hands
jin the union's pockets - our exalted Congressmen from New Jersey, Mr.
fiek, ‘Thompson and Mr. Williams. (How many jobs can "Honest" Harry's
‘wife hold at one time??) It will be very interesting to see how
ory itheir colleagues on the Ethics Committee protect them... You'll then
Leb ‘hear some of the most imaginative fairy tales since the passing of
(ve:
Hans Christian Anderson. Don't you think Rep. Kelley showed great
promise with his tale?? He'll be hard to beat.
Keep up the good work. Someday we might have an ponest
[not through its own doings, but from fear of an effectlv
‘that is dol
a it's job to ) Protect thepublic's welfare,
