The indicators which show, provided training to -Hanjour are derived from the following: (1) a computerized ‘record revealing that Hani. Hanjour was signed up to be a member of the Sawyer School of Aviation Simulator Club (hereafter referred to as Sawyer) on 6/23/2001; moreover, this was the same date that Rayed Abdullah, Faisal Al-~Salmi and Lotfi Raissi alsa signed up for the simulator club;. and, (2) statement that four individuals were observed together at Sawyer, Rayed Abdullah, Faisal Al Salmi, Lotfi, the Algerian Flight Instructor and a fourth individual with physical characteristics similar to Hanjour who she subsequently picked out of a photo line up as being the fourth individual. Please note that she was not 100% certain that it was Hanjour.. She described him as being a shadowy guy, Arab looking, 5'6" tall, short cut dark hair, maybe some facial hair, with a thin "wiry. build." Sawyer's records regarding people entering the facility and utilizing the simulator were not complete, that is, people frequently brought - guests into the simulator without there being a record made of their visit. or an attempt to identify them. (U) It is feasible that Hanjour came to Phoenix in June 2001 to receive additional training on the simulator because he would need to take the hijacked airplane off of autopilot and utilize instrumentation to fly the aircraft into it's target. Aircraft simulators are exceptionally well suited for fraining on instrumentation. : provided instruction to Hanjour. however, had a page removed and was therefore missing entries covering the period of March 2000 through June 26, 2001.
