The Birmingham Office has advised that the search of the church
and surrounding area and the examination of the two automobiles damaged in the
explosion are completed with no physical evidence being found to assist in the
identification of the explosive substance used, the manner in which detonated,
or the container in which it was possibly placed, It is not possible from the
search conducted at the scene to determine the quantity of explosive used in the
bombing but the extent of damage is consistent with that which would be caused
by a high-order explosive charge such as ten or more sticks of dynamite or
its equivalent,

OAS ;
Birmingham advised that the fact that no evidence 1 was found that
could be associated with a bomb utilizing a time delayed device such as an
electric basting cap, wire, battery or clock fragments, suggests-that the bomb
may have been the type detonated by a safety fuse and blasting cap, both of which
were possibly consumed by the detonation of the explosive charge? vA
