; RE: UNSUBS; BOMBING OF SIXTEENTH
STREET BAPTIST CHURCH
———9 Asa Earl Carter, Oxford, Alabama, a staunch segrega-
oe tionist and member of the Volunteers for Alabama and Wallace,
was interviewed on 9-23-63 but furnished no information of
value, He indicated disapproval of such violence as the bombing
of the victim church and offered to cooperate fully with the
Bureau concerning the matter, He expressed the opinion that
- the bombing could have been perpetrated by a white person but
that such a person would have to be crazy and that any such
we person would logically be associated with the National States
