She was a very offi- efent chairman, although the discussion proved that she had not taker great pain to investigate the smaterials on honor systems which are readily aveilable from FSA end sone of which, I later discovered, vere in the NSA Allegheny files. However, she is widely respected on camvue and a very diligent worker. As far as-I.vas able to detersine, she i hae no extraordinary intereet in foreign affairs, althozzh she seens acquainted at lecst with those areas of internaticnal relatione which NSA involves. Daring wy eighteen hours at Allegheny College, I wae not:able to have thorough dis- cusricns vithmny more of the students, particularly the sembers of the Allegheny Under gtaduate Council who struck me es being above-average leadership types. Among those whem I vould clessify in thie category, however, are Bill Regan, the President of the Allegheny Undergraduate Council, Jack Cotton, one of the Freeahmen Counsellors, and Tex . Jones, also a Preehmen Coumsellor. In sum, I would certainly agree vith the observa- tion of Gene Preston that here at Allegheny Collegs, there 4s more potentially really good leadershi: per sqzare foot than there aro in the total cf many other nenber colleces and ‘miversitien. The reason for this ie not only the activities program which tendc to train in service ycunger and lese experienced students for Jobe of.leaderuhip in the various activities ;rograms, but also the very patient ond thorough and sensitive dires- tion of studert activities by the present Dean of Stwients, Mr. MeCracken.
